So, we decided to try this new idea. It seemed pretty simple. Get a Senior that can dance and dump 25 pounds of flour all over her. What could go wrong with that? So we headed out to the Bremen Wal-Mart and picked up some flour, LOTS of black plastic sheeting, and I think some duct tape. I don’t remember what the duct tape was for, but we were prepared for anything!
Amelia was in the midst of completing her Senior portraits with us this year, and she just so happened to be a ballet dancer. (yeah we talked her into it!)
Talented Senior girl,( who’s also gorgeous) √
It took us a while to get everything set up and after this first show below, we had to make some lighting adjustments. Amelia still looked pretty normal. Nice clean leotard, perfect hair….
Lonnie said, “that’ll never do….we need…..
And suddenly the magic began. We had SO much fun with this session. It took a little while to figure out exactly how to capture everything like we wanted….but it finally came full circle. It’s not as simple as just slinging baking products around and giggling. There’s specific camera settings, specific lighting placement, and lots of precautions (like make sure your light head is covered so you don’t start a fire). I have to say, I think these images came out even better than I thought they would (since it was our first time experimenting with it). Check this out⇓⇓⇓
I know, I know ….SO COOOOOOL!!! Next, we decided to just totally fill her hair with flour.
This one below is one of my favorites. She looks like a wild sorceress or mad scientist haha
Now that we have done this with a ballet dancer, we have thought of SO many cool things that we could do. Imagine this with a martial arts enthusiast, or hip hop dancer, or color guard with their flag, gymnasts, cheerleaders, the options are crazy!
Once we got the images we were after, it became an all out war between Lonnie and Amelia. Thank God Amelia’s mom and I were safe behind the camera!! Check out the action:
If you think you might be interested in this type of session for something YOU like to do, let us know! We are totally ready to do it again. SO. MUCH. FUN. There’s only one really big question I have to ask at the end of this…
Did Amelia’s hair turn into a big dough-ball when she washed it that night? I’ll have to find out!
